There are benefits and risks to therapy. Therapy is not always sunshine and rainbows. Oftentimes, therapy can bring up distressing emotions, such as sadness, frustration, worry, hopelessness, and helplessness, as people usually discuss distressing events. However, therapy can also lead to increased self-awareness and insight, improved coping skills to manage daily stressors, increased motivation to meet personal goals, and overall healthier and more satisfying interpersonal relationships. The outcome of therapy depends largely on your willingness to engage in the therapeutic process. Changes do not happen overnight, meaning that you must consistently attend sessions and apply skills outside of the therapy room. Are you ready to become the best version of yourself?
What to Expect
We are no longer providing in-person services. All sessions are held via secure-video chat, also known as “telehealth.” Once you have chosen the provider with whom you want to work and contacted them to schedule your initial appointment, they will provide you with access to the online client portal. The client portal will allow you to view important documents, securely message your provider, and request appointments. To join the telehealth session, you simply click on the link provided to you. All you need is a device with a camera!
The first meeting with your therapist will be an intake assessment. The therapist will gather information about what brought you to therapy, your relationships and family history, education and work experiences, medical history, and so forth. You will also discuss goals and plans for treatment. Each session thereafter will be specifically tailored to your individual needs. You are the expert of your own life and we encourage you to take an active role in your treatment. It is recommended to begin with weekly sessions at the onset of treatment and add or reduce the amount of contact based on your needs and treatment goals.
Who Do We Serve?
We serve individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults. At times, individuals may decide to incorporate their loved ones in session to improve communication and increase support. For some, it may be more beneficial to have ongoing family therapy or couples counseling in addition or as opposed to individual therapy. Talk with your therapist to determine which option(s) will best support your needs.
